Who are we?

We are a husband and wife team, Abigail and Ram, who co-founded The Jewel Box ZA online jewellery store in 2023. 

Why did we start The Jewel Box ZA?

Because we know and love jewellery (Ram's family has a long history in the gemstone business in India and Abigail is a sucker for gemstones and jewelry), and spend a lot of time looking at jewellery on socials. While there are many amazing jewellery stores in the country, we found that we could add value and benefit customers with our knowledge and networks in the industry,

We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy beautiful jewellery, regardless of their budget. That's why we offer a wide variety of options at our jewellery store, at a variety of price points. Significance of the name

The Jewel Box is a cluster of stars first documented from the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa on March 25, 1752. It was named the Jewel Box by astronomer John Herschel who described it as a “casket of variously coloured precious stones”.

We wanted to pay homage to our beautiful South Africa and what better name than a stunning celestial object that's visible from here. The name also acknowledges Ram's job in astronomy and Abby's love for precious stones.
